Foodies unite: longer days and warmer evenings welcome the eclectic food truck scene back to Herriman.

The Hungry Herriman food truck roundup, featuring The Food Truck League, is a popular Monday evening gathering point for friends and family to grab some grub and hang out. Located at J. Lynn Crane Park (5373 Main St.), the event runs from April 5 to Oct. 25, 5–8:30 p.m.

“The Food Truck League unites a growing network of more than 100 of Utah’s best food trucks, helping them reach communities and businesses looking for a locally made, one-of-a-kind meal,” said Eliot Steimle, general manager of The Food Truck League.

Hungry Herriman partnered with The Food Truck League in 2020 to provide a fun atmosphere with an abundance of gourmet food truck choices for any size group or family. From hot chicken and curry to churros and shaved ice, there is an option for every palate and pocketbook.

“We literally have food from all over the world every week, so there is a cornucopia of choices for any mood or preference,” Steimle said.

Now how does a venue choose what food trucks to book for an event?

“We use a database that has information from tracking 200-plus trucks and 15,000-plus events,” Steimle said. “The primary factors are popularity and reliability, but lots of things come into play, like their speed of service, the price point of their menu and even how loud their generator is.”

The number of trucks also varies throughout the season.

“Usually, we have six to eight trucks in early spring and fall,” said Dayton Martindale, events manager for Herriman City. “During the summer, we have nine.”

Adding to the event, city officials plan to add a farmers market this summer.

“We will also be introducing a Monday night farmers market in June 2021 to coincide with the Hungry Herriman food truck round up,” Martindale said.

Supporting locally owned small businesses is another bonus of this event. The Food Truck League brings great food and communities together because they create positive and fun events for all ages with the best food trucks in Utah.

“We love helping these local food trucks connect with the community,” Steimle said.
