Have you heard the news? 'Newsies' is coming to Herriman! Originally slated for last year but delayed due to the pandemic, the popular musical is finally hitting the Butterfield Park stage over the next two weeks.

"I think it's one of the best casts we've had in a long time and I think people are going to enjoy the show," said James Crane, the show's producer and chair of the Herriman Arts Council. "It's one of the best things we've ever put on this stage. I'm really proud of it."

The production features live music from the Herriman Orchestra, dazzling dance numbers from the ensemble cast and show-stopping solos from the leads.

Tanner Tate plays the lead character of Jack, a down-on-his-luck orphan who dreams of leaving New York City to move to Santa Fe, New Mexico.

"Everyone in the cast likes each other, and I think that makes it super fun for everyone who will be watching," said Tate. "We enjoy coming to rehearsal and interacting with each other, which can't always be said for productions. When a cast really likes each other, the audience can tell."

Jack's love interest is an ambitious newspaper reporter named Katherine, played by Patrice Densley.

"It's a fantastic show put on by a phenomenal cast and crew. We've worked so hard and there's been such an excitement, the devotion to it is 110%," Densley said.

The production runs from July 8-10, 12-17 and a final performance on Monday, July 19.

Tickets are available for purchase online here or in-person prior to each performance.
