The Mountain Ridge volleyball team secured their first region championship last month as they finished the regular season with a record of 25-4, including a 9-1 record in region play.
The Sentinels are led by a strong senior class, headlined by Ireland McNees. Already committed to play at the next level for Loyola Marymount, she leads the team in kills, is second in digs, and boasts a serving percentage of over 90%.
Fellow seniors Rylee Parnkinson and Kiera Cook have accounted for 234 and 156 kills, respectively.
Managing the ball distribution this season has been sophomore setter Sadie White, who split time with a senior last year. Now with full responsibility for the position, she amassed 850 assists over the course of the season, 85% of the team’s total.
The 2022 girls volleyball 6A tournament was scheduled to begin on Nov. 1, with first round games taking place at higher seeded teams’ home courts, with following rounds taking place at Utah Valley University Nov. 3-5.
