Comcast has unveiled plans to significantly expand its next-generation Xfinity network across Utah over the next three years. The media and technology company has pledged more than $138 million to install hundreds of miles of fiber highways, capable of delivering multi-gigabit speeds. This new investment builds on Comcast’s ongoing $500 million investment in Utah.

This year, Comcast’s fiber network expansion will reach communities in Box Elder, Davis, Salt Lake, Summit, Tooele, Utah, Wasatch, Weber, and parts of Utah County, many of which already have access to Xfinity and Comcast Business services. The foundational next-generation network sets the stage for the launch of DOCSIS 4.0 and introduces symmetrical multi-gigabit internet options.

“Comcast’s $138 million multi-gig speed fiber network expansion in Utah is a visionary investment in our state’s future,” said Utah Governor Spencer Cox. “By bolstering our fiber infrastructure, we’re not just enhancing connectivity; we’re future-proofing Utah’s economy and ensuring more Utahns have access to the digital opportunities of tomorrow.”

Beyond infrastructure, Comcast addresses digital opportunities through Project UP, a $1 billion commitment to help millions of people access the internet. In 2023, Comcast Utah invested more than $4.6 million to support local community organizations with digital skills training, workforce development and tech education initiatives for students, adults and people with disabilities.

Comcast partners with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake to help youth develop technology skills necessary for today’s workforce. Over the past two years, Comcast has provided $140,000 in cash and in-kind contributions to Utah Boys and Girls Clubs, funding technology training and establishing six community WiFi-connected Lift Zones to ensure families can get online when needed.

One of these Lift Zones is at the Tooele Boys and Girls Club, where Comcast supports STEM learning, particularly in Esports.
